The Cupboard Monster
Official News Letter of the

MARKETEERS CARNIVAL CLUB

Chairman: Steve Wright Captain: Alan Windsor Treasurer: Dave Kirk Jnr Secretary: Mark Cheffy

On ‘Yer Bike

Good day to you!!!! Hope this letter finds you all well and in good spirits!!!!  I’m sure you’ll all agree what wonderful weather we’ve been having, with the only sunny days reserved for Knappers Stag weekend and Day…… and what more could you want when drinking Somerset dry then glorious sunshine.

In the time since the last newsletter the club have been busy (and a massive thanks to everyone for their help, especially the people who we have called on when the members haven’t been able to do it all on our own) we have been to Glasto festival (and got wet), we have done quite a few bars (and got wet) and had a couple quizzes where we stayed dry.

We as a club have received praise from the Glastonbury festival organisers for our hard work and professional attitude. We also received a letter of thanks from John Willis (for those of you that go up there that’s the blokes house that Chunk and I guard with our lives and refuse to move, nothing to do with the constant supply of tea and biscuits mind you). So, well done to everyone that helped out at the festival.

Before the festival was Matt Knapp’s stag weekend, where 40 odd Romans descended on the seaside town of Minehead. A great weekend was had by all, with drinking a plenty, some great live music (and shawaddywaddy), the welcome return of Allan Elson from his travels and last but not least Tim Knapp won the world hide and seek competition. Pictures and videos are online at www.bridgwater-photos.co.uk

After the festival was Matt’s stag day, when once again 40odd Romans met up and went on a magical mystery tour which got as far as Burnham on Sea before alcohol and music took over and the group settled for a few hours in Michaels fun pub, with DJ’s Lilly and Seabum on the decks, everyone was up dancing and enjoying themselves as we readied for our return into town and a trip to the B & E. For some in the group it was there first trip to the legendary Bristol and Exeter inn, for others it was a chance to go and visit an Old Friend, and when some of the centurions (that’s Roman ones not the Carnival Club) decided to treat us all to bags (or 2) of nuts and happiness broke out all around. We then marched through town (taking in some watering holes on the way) and ended up the night partying (some sleeping) the night away in the Blake Arms.

Concert rehearsals are well under way, and are taking place twice a week, Suns 7-9 and Weds 8-10, we are currently looking for people to help us out with the props over the concerts period, if there’s anyone out there that are able to help please contact Steve Wright on his number (listed below).

The Club have a Bike ride planned for August 11th, please try and come along (anyone will tell you it’s a great day out) and if you can’t make it please try and raise some sponsorship/Sponsor one of us as all money in the club pockets is good money.

We also have a quiz planned for Fri 17th August, please make an effort to come along to this; it’s a fun night and once again raises some much needed money for the club.

Monday night meetings are now being held out the cart. It would be nice to see lots of people out there.

That’s all for now, take care of yourselves and hope to see you all soon.

Best wishes -  Windsor
