The Cupboard Monster
Official News Letter of the

MARKETEERS CARNIVAL CLUB

Chairman: Steve Wright Captain: Alan Windsor Treasurer: Dave Kirk jnr Secretary: Mark Cheffy

Hello there, long time no see.

Hope you’re all keeping well and enjoyed your Easter and May bank holidays. The club has tried to keep busy over recent months and with monies at a premium we have tried to come up with new ways to raise money!!!! 2 skittle weekends have taken place which raised the club a nice little amount of money (thanks go to Andreas (from Blake) who donated back his £100 prize money and also Dean (Faggot) Waite, John Turner & Trev Watts who all donated back their prize money).

The club have also (after years and years of deliberation) set up an open the box game, at the moment the top prize stands at over £100. With quite a few bars coming up in the coming months the future is looking much rosier than it was a couple months ago!!!!

Also on the treasury front, the reigns at the top have changed hands, as of beginning of June Dave Kirk (Jones) will take over the main role and Ian will be taking a step back to assist Dave with the finances.

With June upon us (where has the year gone) the stage rehearsals will begin in earnest, Having already had the taste for performing on stage in this years Old Folks show people are ready and raring to go.

The Old Folks Show once again was a resounding success both on the stage and in the Pubs one young member in question had to much ‘lemonade’ in his drink on the first night, and a former captain of the club awoke in the morning to find a large puddle of last nights excess deposited on the floor by his very hung-over son. Some one else appearing on stage took too much alcohol the 1st night and wasn’t seen again for the duration of the show, Gadger assures us all though that he had ‘Flu’ and Singing & dancing ‘til 3am in Galleries had nothing to do with it.

The Friday night passed of without incident and Gadger wasn’t missed from stage as we were able to borrow a blow up doll from Renegades cc. The Saturday night arrived and with Gadger still suffering with the ‘Flu’ we managed to rope in Spud for a guest part, With Horney and John Turner also joining us on stage all went down well (especially the Carnival Committees food which they had left unguarded around the back of the stage)

Also over Old Folks Show Steven (Guppy) and Emma Adlam celebrated the birth of their 2nd child a little girl named Hollie congratulations go to them.

As I write this we are only 9 days from Matt Knapps Stag weekend in Butlins, for those of you going we will be meeting in the Blake Arms Hotel at 1pm and leaving for Butlins at 3ish. You will need to bring with you either a bum-bag or shorts with pockets and also of course plenty of beer money. Any questions please contact me on the number below.

All for now, best wishes – Alan Windsor
